“You learn a lot about someone when you share a meal together”
Hooley’s Pub first opened its doors in March 2006. It quickly became a recognized gathering place along Elgin Street’s entertainment corridor. Known for its energetic atmosphere and Maritime-inspired food, the pub attracted a diverse crowd of locals, students, and visitors.
Beyond casual fare, Hooley’s menu featured more composed dishes—pastas, grilled proteins, and fresh salads. These Main Plates offered richness and variety, from the seafood-filled Pasta from the Pier to grilled Atlantic salmon and New York strip steak. Lighter options like the goat cheese house salad and walnut salad with mandarin oranges provided a refreshing counterpoint to the heartier offerings.
Dishes designed for ease, flavour, and flexibility. These included wings, nachos, burgers, tacos, and pizzas. The focus was often on customisation and bold, approachable flavours. Chicken wings came in a wide variety of sauces, from Halifax Heat to Maple Bacon, while the build-your-own burger and pizza options allowed guests to shape meals to their tastes.
Menu tells a lasting story
Traditional pub
From house-made burgers to seafood-topped pasta, every item represented a moment in time when casual dining met regional expression. The menu reflected both familiarity and creativity—where donair wraps, maple-drizzled salmon, and build-your-own pizzas shared space with garlic fingers and Guinness chocolate cake. Each dish showcased how Hooley’s blended East Coast flavours, Canadian comfort food, and pub staples into meals that were as much about local identity as they were about taste.
The Ultimate Guide
Hooley’s operated a club section with a large dance floor and stage. It could hold over 300 guests. Live bands performed regularly from Wednesday through Saturday. Between sets, DJs kept the energy high. Performers changed weekly, offering variety and encouraging repeat visits.
